Mr. Arias has over 30 years business experience in the global petrochemical industry. Mr. Arias is an adviser to the Environmental, Health and Safety Directorate of the OECD in Paris, a European Commission Expert for the R&D General Directorate and for the Competition (Antitrust) General Directorate in Brussels, a Member of the International Program for Chemical Safety (IPCS) Task Group for the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva. Mr. Arias joined EPSA in 1990 as a Managing Director in its polymers and fibres consulting association. In 1973, Mr. Arias joined Occidental Petroleum Corporation, where he was the Director of Business Development for the Chemical Division and responsible for mergers and acquisitions. During his tenure, he was also the Chief Executive Officer of several Occidental affiliates and divisions, including Hooker Chemical and Plastics Corporation, the Durez division, the Ruco Polymer division, Oxychem, (OMI) and Enoxy S.A., which specialized in base chemicals, polymers and additives.
